PRESS RELEASE

Mengbi Yang, 24, from Beijing; Wenbin Mu, 38, from Hubei; and Dongcheng Li, 43, from Fujian, three Chinese citizens who are concerned about two men who were arrested by the Chinese government, Artist and activist for human rights and democracy in China, Ai Weiwei and 2010 Nobel peace prize winner, Liu Xiaobo.

 These men will be taking a cycling tour of over 3,000 miles (10,000 Chinese Miles) across the US. This tour is called “Cycling Tour For Human Rights of China”. They will start in New York City, New York and end in San Francisco, California. They will travel through more than ten states and dozens of cities and towns. Planning to collect more than 10,000 signatures asking for the release of the two imprisoned men. The first signature is from Assistant Secretary of the Department of State, Mr. Michael Posner.

 We will also ask for signing of the open letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki- Moon regarding the Chinese government’s serious and on-going human rights violations against its own people along the tour. The letter campaign has been originated and  led by Initiatives for China and Dr.Yang Jianli.

The starting ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM on June 14 in Flushing, NY. We welcome supporters and reporters to join the starting ceremony.
