Citizen Power Initiatives for China welcomes this much deserved appointment of Mr. Nury Turkel as a commissioner the US Commission on International Religious Freedom. We send our heart-felt congratulations to Mr. Nury Turkel and the entire Uyghur community.
Mr. Nury Turkel is currently a Washington, D.C.-based attorney and Chairman of the Board for the Uyghur Human Rights Project, which he co-founded in 2003. He also served as the president of the Uyghur American Association, where he led efforts to raise the profile of the Uyghur issues in the United States.
CPIFC has had many years of valuable experience of working with Mr. Nury Turkel and we have no doubt that he will prove once again a great asset in the cause of global religious freedom.
