Washington, D.C. — May 3, 2010.  Hu Yan, a determined young Chinese mother from Shanghai, will reveal the “Hidden Sanghai Expo” at a New York City press briefing in Ralph Bunche Park, across the street from the UN Headquarters at 11:00 am on Friday, May 7.

The Shanghai Expo, billed as the world’s largest trade exhibition, opened May 1, 2010 (Shanghai Time).  The world’s press was awash with facts, figures, and superlatives regarding the expo. In the April 30 New York Times lead article on the expo, columnist David Barboza wrote, “Preparations have been nothing short of monumental. After winning the bid in 2002 to host the event, Shanghai began clearing about two square miles along the Huangpu River. That involved moving 18,000 families and 270 factories, including the hulking Jiang Nan Shipyard, which employs 10,000 workers.”

Hu Yan has traveled halfway across the world to tell of the “Hidden Shanghai Expo” that rests underneath the more than 180 exhibits spread over three square miles.  The Hidden Expo consists of the pulverized remains of 18,000 demolished homes.  The Hidden Expo involves 18,000 families forcibly evicted without due process or compensation.  The Hidden expo is one of broken homes and shattered spirits.

Highly respected Chinese citizens, Yang Jianli, Hu Ping, Xu Wenli, Xue Wei, Wang Juntao, Chen Pokong, Xia Ming,Chen Liqun, Cao Jintao,Liu Dongxing,Tang Yuanjun, Chen Ming, Xia Yu, and other civic and political leaders will speak of the Hidden Expo that lies below the spectacle of the Shanghai Expo.”
