Celebration of the 100th year anniversary of Xinhai Revolution (Revolution of 1911) took place today in front of Presidential Palace in Taipei. This ceremony is hosted by the head of legislation, Wang Jin-Pyng. President of Republic of China, Ma Ying-Jeou, delivered speech. Dr. Yang Jianli, president of Initiatives for China, was invited as a civil society representative of Mainland China.
During his speech, President Ma Ying-Jeou calls Mainland China, who is also celebrating the Xinhai Revolution, to remember the fundamental principles of Xinhai Revolution, which are freedom, democracy, and social equality. President Ma says these principles are the directions Mainland China should take, to minimize the distance between Mainland China and Taiwan.
